A tealight sits between a bat perched on a branch and an arched panel with a crescent moon. Lit, the bat's eyes and the stars in its wings glow, and the moon and stars behind the flame land on the wall. Four pieces that push into a two-layer base, no glue. Set the wingspan, pick what shines through the wings, and size the pocket to your tealight, real or LED.
160 × 115 × 96.9 mm · 6.30 × 4.53 × 3.81 in
Cut and assembled on an xTool M2: the panels press together without glue and the tealight glows through the bat and the moon.
Tip to tip. The base and the moon panel scale with it.
Front to back. Deeper puts the candle further from the wood: 115 mm gives a real flame 25 mm of air in front.
A standard tealight is 38 mm; LED ones vary. The pocket gets 1.5 mm of play.
Wing cut-outs
Measure it with calipers. Sheets sold as 3 mm are often 2.7 to 3.2.
How much the beam burns away. Higher makes joints tighter. 0.10 to 0.20 suits most diode lasers.
